Woman student leader powers on to wing strength contest; Boyfriend survives girlfriend's murder plot

A primary school teacher in Guangzhou went missing after he tied up an eight-year-old pupil as punishment, the New Express reports.

A primary school teacher in Guangzhou went missing after he tied up an eight-year-old pupil as punishment, the New Express reports. The boy told his parents the teacher bound his hands and feet when he refused to take a nap with other pupils, and then made him kneel in the bathroom. The teacher also put socks in his mouth to muffle his cries for 30 minutes until he was found by another teacher. Police are searching for the teacher.

A Dongguan woman was acquitted of murdering her boyfriend after it was revealed the couple made a suicide pact, the Yangcheng Evening News reports. Following an argument, the woman asked the man to keep his vow to look after her for the rest of her life. The man refused, saying that was only possible if they committed suicide together. The two used a fruit knife to first stab the man and then cut the woman's wrist. She later regained consciousness and called police and an ambulance. Doctors were unable to save her boyfriend. The court dropped the charges, saying her crime was minor, she had turned herself in and had a child to support.
