A policeman in Guangzhou has turned himself in to prosecutors after he took bribes to turn a blind eye to the operations of a blackmailing gang, the New Express reports. The officer discovered the gang's crimes, but they paid him 25,000 yuan (HK$31,500) to keep silent. The gang was later broken up by other officers and the policeman decided to confess. He faces corruption charges.

Two men in Foshan were arrested after lying that they had put a bomb on the subway system the New Express reports. The men were flirting with a member of staff on the subway, asking for her mobile number, but when she appeared disinterested they made up the bomb hoax. She took it seriously and contacted the police. The men have been detained for disturbing social order.
