Officials in Yubei have installed 100 digital detectors to monitor and report potential dangers from waste and gas pipes near residential compounds, the Chongqing Daily reports. The city installed the instruments in the densely populated buildings to monitor risks in a timely fashion and alert authorities of spillages before they become a danger to residents. When a leak is detected it will send messages to the remote control centre to notify staff of the problem.
