Ministry reports cyber attacks by US hackers

Hackers mainly based in the US attacked two Chinese military websites including the Defence Ministry page an average of 144,000 times a month last year, the ministry said. China's first report of attacks on its websites steps up a war of words between the world powers, after a US security company said last week that a Chinese military unit was behind a series of hacking attacks in the United States. Journalist told to leave by Economic Observer

One of the mainland's most celebrated journalists left the outspoken The Economic Observer newspaper after what two journalists said was official pressure over a series of investigative reports. The paper's management asked Wang Keqin, whose decades of breaking stories have brought him nationwide fame, to leave on Monday, according to an account confirmed by two journalists familiar with the matter.
