A Shenzhen man was so pre-occupied with work that he missed his own wedding.

Realising his mistake, he posted an apology in the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, asking this fiancee to forgive him..

It reads: “I, Tang Jinhui, carelessly missed the date of registration for my marriage to Miss Zhang on March 13. I deeply apologise for my mistake and for hurting her.”

“I hope Miss Zhang can forgive me and will still stay with me in future,” it continues.

The apology quickly went viral on Weibo and amused many readers, who also speculated on the reason for his forgetfulness.

“There must be gut wrenching and bitter-sweet story full of twists and turns behind this,” one wrote.

“Does he work in marketing? Maybe he was working overtime!”wrote another blogger.

“Was he playing DotA [video game]?, ” said another blogger.

Others asked whether he actually deserved to be forgiven..

“How can someone possibly forget his own wedding date?,” said one blogger.

“Was he really that busy? Forget it [Miss Zhang], a man like this is not worth [marrying],” advised another.

But a kinder blogger said: “Please forgive him, Miss Zhang. We all did,”.
