Guangdong man takes dead girlfriend’s body on road trip

A procuratorate in Fujian has issued a formal arrest of a Guangdong man who was accused of killing his girlfriend and taking her body on a road trip after their relationship ended unhappily, Chinese media reported.

The 22-year-old man, identified by only his surname Pan, has been under custody and was charged with murder by Fujian province’s Changle procuratorate, government news portal Fzzfw.com.cn reported.

Authorities accuse Pan of impulsively slaying his girlfriend, who was surnamed Luo, with a small knife used to cut paper. The incident happened in his private car in May, just outside the woman’s home in Foshan city, Guangdong. Shortly before, they had a fierce dispute after she wanted to end their six-year relationship, the report said.

Pan stayed for hours at the scene thinking about what to do, according to the report. He thought about turning himself in, but before that, he would take his girlfriend's body on a road trip - to fulfill her wish to travel.

The gruesome road trip started in Guangdong and went to neighbouring Fujian province, where he stopped in Xiamen and Fuzhou. At Fuzhou’s airport, Pan ditched his car with the body inside and boarded a plane to Shanghai carrying her mobile phone, the report said.

His journey came to end in Sanya, Hainan, where he was placed under arrest, almost a week after the slaying, the news portal reported.
