Facebook CEO and university president expressed joint desire to build a deeper relationship – even though the social networking site is banned on the mainland.

Facebook and Tsinghua University are looking forward to closer cooperation in future, Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg and the university’s president said in a meeting on Tuesday.
The two exchanged views on how to cultivate talent and expressed a joint desire to build a deeper relationship according to the Tsinghua University News – even though the social networking site is banned on the mainland.
Dr Cheng Jining, the university’s president, said he was particularly interested in collaborating with Facebook to train students to seize the opportunities of the rapidly developing information technology industry.
Zuckerberg’s visit to Tsinghua, widely regarded as the mainland’s top education and research institute, came after he joined the advisory council of the university’s School of Economics and Management.

The school, founded in 1984 by former premier Zhu Rongji, has extensive connections to the central government. Among its several dozen advisory council members are influential policy makers, such as central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan and finance minister Lou Jiwei.
