Shenzhen police are targeting more than 100 suspected members of a cross-border gang believed to be burgling luxury homes in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta.

Police said most of the suspects are from Donglan county in Guangxi province and are wanted in connection with a series of burglaries in delta cities, including Guangzhou, Huizhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, according to the Southern Metropolis News.

In all, 13 people have been arrested and the wanted listed could expand to 200, the report said.

The report said the burglars usually stayed at small inns in Shenzhen’s Pinghu and Gongming sub-districts and operated in small groups to burgle flats in downtown Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

The gang members also made frequent trips to Hong Kong, with several burglaries coinciding with their time in the city.

Customs officers detained one gang member at the Huanggang checkpoint returning to Shenzhen from Hong Kong on November 5 with two bags filled with expensive watches and gold jewellery.
