Violent website closed

Two suspects have been arrested for running a website featuring explicitly violent content, Xinhuanet.com  reports. Beijing police said the two men, from Shandong  and Shanghai, showed videos and photos of beheadings, corpses and animal abuse on their website, which had more than 10,000 “VIP” members. Police vowed to crack down on such illegal sites.

Averting subway mayhem

Transport authorities will deploy 3,600 extra staff at subway stations to deal with possible problems on December 28 when a new ticketing system is launched, The Beijing News  reports. There have been mounting complaints from commuters after the city announced last month that it would replace flat-priced single-journey tickets with fares based on distance.
