Update | President Vladimir Putin to visit China as Russia looks to foster closer ties
Russian aide says a government delegation has been invited to a military parade in Beijing to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the second world war, Interfax news agency reports

Russian President Vladimir Putin has a visit planned to China in September, Interfax reported on Thursday, citing the Kremlin’s chief of staff, Sergei Ivanov.
Interfax also reported that a Russian government delegation had been invited to a parade in China on September 3 to mark 70 years since the end of the second world war.
Putin on Thursday held talks in Moscow with a close aide to President Xi, Li Zhanshu, the head of the General Office of the Communist Party.
Russia is keen to foster closer ties with China as its relations with the West have deteriorated over the crisis in Ukraine.
The European Union and United States have imposed sanctions on Russia over its role in the Ukraine separatist conflict.
