President Xi Jinping's long-time colleague appointed new Beijing police chief
Wang Xiaohong, former head of Fuzhou and Xiamen city forces in Fujian province, where the president worked for years, succeeds Fu Zhenghua

A long-time colleague of President Xi Jinping has been appointed as head of the capital's police force, two independent sources have told the South China Morning Post.
Wang Xiaohong, 57, succeeds Fu Zhenghua, who had been doubling as a vice-minister of public security.
The new chief of Beijing police started his career in Fujian province , where he remained until August 2013, when he moved on to head Henan province's police force. He has also been police chief of the two Fujian cities of Fuzhou and Xiamen , his public profile states.
Fujian was also the province where Xi worked for the longest time. He spent 17 years there from 1985 to 2002, according to his public profile.
Under Xi's rule in Fuzhou, Wang was promoted to lead the city's public security bureau.
Since Wang's move to Henan, he has overseen the provincial public security bureau, paramilitary police and some other law enforcement agencies. Last December, he was promoted to become vice-governor of Henan.
