Jobless driver in Beijing crash ‘bought Lamborghini with stock market cash’
Mother of 21-year-old man who crashed his sports car in a Beijing tunnel while allegedly racing a Ferrari at speeds of more than 160km/h says 'he is just an ordinary kid'

The mother of a 4 million yuan (HK$5 million) Lamborghini driver involved in a controversial traffic accident in Beijing says her son bought the luxury car using money earned on the stock market, The Beijing News reports.
Two men were detained on suspicion of dangerous driving after a Lamborghini and a Ferrari crashed in a tunnel in the capital during a suspected road race last Saturday night.
They were identified as a man surnamed Yu, 20, from Changchun in the northeastern province of Jilin, who was driving the Ferrari, and another man, surnamed Tang, 21, from Beijing, who was driving the Lamborghini.
Speculation on mainland social media has suggested both drivers are from the families of senior government officials or rich business people, but Tang’s parents have denied the rumours.
“He is just an ordinary kid,” Tang’s mother said. “We are long time residents of Beijing, without any [special] background,” she was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
