The dispute between Gulf nations and Qatar has put China in something of a diplomatic bind.

Among the countries cutting off ties with Qatar over its alleged support for terrorist groups is Saudi Arabia, one of China’s main energy suppliers.

Any moves seen as siding with Qatar by Beijing may damage China’s ties with the Saudis.
