China’s Communist Party has issued a new regulation on evaluating officials’ performance to fix a long-time flaw in the system that does not allow officials to be demoted unless they violate party rules or Chinese law. China’s insurance industry gained 19 per cent in total revenues during the first half of the year, reaching 1.37 trillion yuan (HK$1.7 trillion).
