Retired Chinese health ministry official ‘investigated for corruption’
Allegations centre on alleged graft at hospitals in Sichuan, according to media report

A retired official who worked at China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission is under investigation for alleged corruption, according to a media report.
Wang Yu, 61, was the former director of the hospital administrative bureau at the commission, the financial news website Caixin reported.
The allegations centre on alleged corruption at hospitals in Sichuan province in western China, the report said, without elaborating.
Wang was detained by anti-corruption investigators from the province last month.
He wielded great power at the administrative bureau because it oversaw management guidelines for hospitals and medical personnel, the administration of clinical trials, as well as the rating of public hospitals, the report said.
Wang frequently inspected local hospitals and medical institutions.
