Twenty-year-old who lost both limbs as a child will write his answers with his foot

A 20-year-old man without both arms will be given 30 per cent extra time to take his college entrance exams, starting on Sunday, as he will write answers to the questions with his right foot, the Chengdu Business Daily reported.

Peng Chao will get 36 minutes extra for his two-hour test.

The young man lost his arms from a severe electric shock at the age of six. Since then, he has taught himself to write with his right foot.

He sat for the the college entrance examination last year, scoring 538 whch was enough to land him a place at a first-tier university. But he failed to get into the three universities he applied for as competition was too fierce.

Peng decided to take the tests again this year and applied for extended exam hours to have enough time to write his answers.

Local education authorities approved his request and will also allow him to use a specially designed seat and desk during the test.

“I could not finish the test last year as I wrote too slowly with my foot,” Peng said.

But he is confident of earning a higher score in the extended time he has to answer questions.
