A man hired workers to paint an entire cliff face green in southwestern China because he claimed the original white colour affected the feng shui of where he lived, a provincial television news media reported.

Five to six workers dangling from safety ropes, were captured on camera slathering green paint onto the cliff face in Qijiang district, Chongqing, according to a report by Chongqing Broadcasting Network Television.

According to the report, the workers had painted 2,000 square metres on the 900-metre-high cliff in over a week.

“I think it [the cliff] looks good after a coat of paint, what’s right or wrong about it?” said Yang Zhigang, the man who hired the workers.

Residents, however, objected to the green makeover.

“It’s definitely not right. The cliff was made this way throughout history. Now it looks terrible after he painted it,” a villager said.
