Chinese police begin inquiry into family deaths as bloodstains, bullets found in stepmum's home

Henan man grew suspicious about sudden deaths of father and brother when he came home and found bloodstains, and 104 rounds of ammunition, handcuffs and sleep-inducing drugs

Local police in China launched an investigation into the deaths of the father and brother of a man who grew suspicious after finding bloodstains and 104 rounds of ammunition at his stepmother’s home, mainland media reports.

The unnamed man from Henan province, who is employed as a migrant worker in cities outside the area, told the Mirror newspaper he had  also discovered four handcuffs, four leg irons, poppy seeds, and sleep-inducing drugs in the home of his stepmother, who is a retired policewoman.

He said he had returned to the family home to sort out his father and brother’s belongings when he spotted blood stains, and the bullets and other items beside her old police ID card.

He said he also learned his stepmother was planning to sell the family home.

The man immediately reported his concerns to police, who have launched an inquiry.

The villager told the Mirror newspaper that when he first heard of the death of his elder brother last November, he was told his brother had died after falling from the rooftop while trying to dry a blanket.

His brother’s body had then been taken to the local crematorium that same night.

He said he was told his father had died three months later after reportedly falling downstairs.
