Chinese businessman has 100,000 yuan stolen - then donates 10,000 yuan to help suspect’s sick daughter

A Chinese businessman who had 100,000 yuan (HK$121,000) stolen from his car later donated 10,000 yuan to the suspected thief’s family after learning the money was taken to pay the medical fees of his sick child, mainland media reports.
The businessman from the city of Wuhan, in Hubei province, identified only by his surname, Zhu, had left the money in a bag inside his car, which was broken into at 3am while he was at a karaoke club with friends on July 3, the Chutian Metropolis Daily reported.
A suspect was seen damaging the car’s door lock and smashing one of its windows before fleeing with a bag containing the money.
Earlier this month police told Zhu they had detained a suspect in the case and recovered the money.
However, when Zhu heard the cash was stolen to help pay the medical fees of the suspect’s sick three-year old daughter, he donated 10,000 yuan towards the child’s treatment.
Police said the suspect, whose surname is Zhang, was a street vendor who lived with his wife and daughter in the city. Zhang’s daughter had been diagnosed with a congenital disease and her treatment was costing the family a lot of money.
