Exploding toilet leaves woman suffering 7cm gash at karaoke bar in central China

Manager blames the victim, saying she broke the lavatory when she tried to squat on the seat wearing high heels

A customer at a karaoke bar in central China was badly hurt when a toilet she was using collapsed and broke into jagged pieces, local media reports.

The woman, 31, arrived at the bar in Chibi city in Hubei province on December 3, one of her friends told the Chutian Metropolis Daily.

She went to use the restroom, and when she sat down on the toilet it immediately “exploded”.

She suffered a 7cm cut to her genitals and was bleeding heavily when she was taken to hospital.

She underwent a three-hour operation, and after two days of intensive care was in stable condition, according to the report.

A manager at the bar denied the woman’s version of the events, saying the toilet probably broke after she tried to stand on it while wearing high heels.

He said the bar owner had paid 20,000 yuan (US$3,100 or HK$24,30) for the woman’s medical fees and visited her at hospital.

The woman denied had squatted on the seat, insisting that it “exploded”.
