A man has attempted to kill himself in a toilet during an airline flight across southern China, according to a newspaper report.

The man was found by cabin crew after he had banged his head repeatedly against a wash basin during a flight from Haikou in Hainan province to Xiamen, The Mirror reported.

Two men travelling with the man said he suffered from depression, according to the report.
