Passenger ‘tries to kill himself’ during flight over southern China

A man has attempted to kill himself in a toilet during an airline flight across southern China, according to a newspaper report.
The man was found by cabin crew after he had banged his head repeatedly against a wash basin during a flight from Haikou in Hainan province to Xiamen, The Mirror reported.
Two men travelling with the man said he suffered from depression, according to the report.
The man in his 20s started trying to harm himself 45 minutes into the XiamenAir flight on Sunday evening.
Airline staff heard loud bangs coming from a toilet and after knocking on the door without getting a response opened the lavatory with a spare key.
The man was found still knocking his head against the basin with blood pouring from his wounds, the Chinese newspaper said.
