A woman found naked in the bathtub of a Chinese singer’s apartment after setting off an alarm told police she was merely a fan and not a burglar, mainland media reports.

The unnamed woman, 35, who was detained by police on Friday, said she entered the Beijing flat of Zhao Yongxin, a member of hip hop group, MIC, after finding the door unlocked, The Beijing News reported on Tuesday.

After finding nobody at home she undressed, hung up her clothes in a wardrobe and then helped herself to the singer’s personal items, including a towel and slippers.

She then took a hot bath.

However, her activities were filmed and triggered a security alarm in the apartment, which sent live video feeds to Zhao’s mobile phone. He recognised her immediately and called police.

The woman had reportedly been following him since last year. At first Zhao regarded her as an enthusiastic fan, but her endless attempts to get close to the singer had became increasingly irrational, Zhao’s agent told the newspaper.
