New | Shanghai Tower, the world’s second tallest skyscraper, to open soon with super-fast lift that travels 18m per second
Lift will take visitors to a viewing platform on the 119th floor in just under a minute

The Shanghai Tower, China’s tallest skyscraper, will soon open for business, according to Chinese media.
The 632-metre tall tower in Lujiazui in Shanghai’s Pudong city, is second only to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
At its maximum speed, the lift would travel at 18 metres a second.

The tower boasts 126 storeys, but its top floor would be restricted to private events such as small concerts or art exhibitions, the management said.
The viewing platform, which will be open to public, will have souvenir shops and a photo exhibition of the world’s most famous skyscrapers.
