Feeding frenzy: internet users aghast at video of Chinese tourists shovelling shrimp at buffet in Thailand
Photos of uneaten, wasted food piled on tables is greeted with disgust at home and abroad

Internet users in the mainland and around the world have reacted with horror to a video of frenzied Chinese tourists using their plates to shovel shrimp at a hotel buffet in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with subsequent photos showing most of the food left uneaten and wasted, a mainland news website reports.

An internet user from Thailand shot the video and posted it Facebook recently, which had attracted 310,000 views within 21 hours, according to the report on Peopleyuqing.com.
Though Facebook is blocked on the mainland, the video soon made its way to China where it was widely shared on social media before coming to the attention of state media.
In the video, the tourists jostle each other noisily to get at the food and walk away with several plates overflowing with seafood.
But much of the food that was left on the tables uneaten, prompting widespread criticism of the tourists’ greed.
More than 4,000 internet users left comments on Peopleyuqing.com criticising the tourists, saying they had brought disgrace to all Chinese.
