Hotel fined in China for failing to register details of guest linked to terrorism probe

A hotel in southern China has been fined for failing to register a guest who it was later discovered was linked to an anti-terrorism investigation, according to a newspaper report.

The hotel in Guangzhou, which was not named, was fined 100,000 yuan (HK$120,000), the Guangzhou Daily reported.

It is a legal requirement for all hotels in China to register details of guests. The fine was imposed under new anti-terrorism laws introduced at the beginning of the year, according to the article.

The report did not give details of who the guest was or of the terrorism investigation they were allegedly linked to.

The manager on duty at the hotel was also fined 10,000 yuan, the report said.
