Return to sender: Chinese customs officers discover delivery of giant cockroaches from Germany in the mail

Customs officers sorting through international mail in the southwest Chinese city of Chengdu have again uncovered unwelcome imports – plastic containers of giant, live cockroaches from Germany, the West China City Daily reports.

Officers found four plastic takeaway boxes, each one labelled and crammed with crawling black insects.

The boxes had air holes punched in the sides to allow better aeration for the comfort of its residents, but at the expense of a pungent stench that welcomed the officers who found them.

Reports added that the insects were more than three times the size of cockroaches typically seen in China.
