Chinese girl, 12, survives after knife thrown into the back of her head

A 12-year-old girl is recovering in hospital in southern China after a boy threw a 15-cm long knife and it penetrated the back of her head, a newspaper reported.

A friend with the girl got into an argument with the boy at a park in Dongguan in Guangdong province after school hours on Monday, the Guangzhou Daily reported.

As they walked away the boy threw the knife, but hit the wrong person, the report said.

The knife lodged about 3cm into her skull.

The knife did not puncture any major veins or arteries and the article said that if the weapon had penetrated further it could have killed the girl.
