A pregnant woman in southwest China was forced to give birth at the side of a road because the driver giving her a lift to hospital feared it would be bad luck if she had a child in his car.
The woman’s water broke and she was about to go into labour while she was on the way to a hospital in Chongqing on Monday, the Chongqing Economic Times reported.
She was with her husband and one of his friends who was giving the couple a lift, according to the article.
The driver, however, refused to continue driving the couple to the hospital, saying it was an ominous sign to have a woman give birth in his car.
He told them to get out and asked them to wait for the ambulance instead, the report said.
