Girl, 17, beaten by college roommates for refusing to take drug methadone

A 17-year-old girl in Liaoning province has been physically abused by her four roommates at a college in the city of Benxi since March for refusing to join them in taking drugs, China Business Morning Post reports.

The girl said her relationship with her four roommates was good when the new school year started in September. However, the four started to abuse her after they started taking methadone, a drug commonly used to treat opiate addiction and relieve pain but which can also be addictive.

She was forced to give them massages, clean up their vomit and even wash their clothes. They then beat her when she refused to take the drug.

Her roommates also threatened to pose photos online of her naked online if she spoke out about the abuse.

The girl’s parents became suspicious after she always told them she was “washing clothes” whenever they called, but the girl did not dare tell her parents what was happening until the semester ended on July 10.

Her parents reported the situation to the police in Benxi the following day.

The girl was diagnosed to be suffering post-traumatic stress disorder, the newspaper said.
