Reluctant rescue: police save uncooperative man from bottom of well

A 65-year-old man was found trapped in a well after allegedly trying to commit suicide, news portal Sina.com.cn reports.

The incident occurred on Friday when the man, who was naked, was found by villagers at the bottom of a well located in the countryside of Jining.

The villagers threw ropes to the man but he refused to take them, the report said.

Police were called by villagers and delivered oxygen down the well then sent a policeman down to rescue the man.

After 20 minutes, the man was brought up out of the well and taken to hospital. He was declared to be in stable conditions.
