Chinese motorcyclist tries to evade traffic fine by hiding under a truck

His wife rushed to the scene and tucked their daughter under the vehicle too. He was still fined 50 yuan

A man in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing hid himself and his 10-year-old daughter under a truck to avoid a fine for running a red light on his electric bicycle, according to a local newspaper.

International Exhibition Centre when the traffic light was red while riding an electric bicycle with his daughter riding pillion, the Yangtse Evening News reported.

A traffic policeman soon stopped him and fined him 50 yuan (HK$58) for the traffic violation.

The man kept silent as the police repeatedly explained the fine to him. Eventually he said he had no money on hand.

When the police decided to detain his electric bicycle, the man suddenly ran to a truck parked nearby and hid himself underneath, while a woman later confirmed to his wife rushed to the scene and tried to tuck her daughter, who had remained seated on the bicycle, under the truck as well.

The man and girl were later persuaded by policeman and onlookers to come out from under the truck. The daughter also received some counselling from a police officer.
