Mugger strips naked before attacking women in southern China ‘to avoid getting recognised’

Man said he took off clothes before attacks because he thought victims would avert their eyes and be unable to identify him, according to a TV report

A naked robber who attacked three women out alone at night in southern China has been arrested, according to a television report.

The assaults took place near Lingfeng mountain in Hezhou in the Guangxi region, Guangxi Television Station reported.

The man was quoted as telling police that he took off his clothes before robbing the women as he thought they would avert their eyes and not be able to recognise him properly, according to the article.

One woman thought she had seen the robber before and police focused on that area.

She spotted him again on Thursday and called the police.

The man had also been filmed on surveillance cameras and his victims were able to identify him.

The man took a mobile phone and cash during the robberies, the report said.
