Huge cobra caught at house in eastern China
Snake spotted as resident came home late one night this week, newspaper reports
A man in southeast China was alarmed to find a huge cobra outside his house earlier this week, according to a newspaper report.
The animal was seen late on Monday night after one of the residents of the house in Wenzhou in Zhejiang province was coming home, the Wenzhou Daily reported.
The snake was three metres long and weighed 10.4kg, according to the article.
The man called the police and experts from the local forestry bureau managed to catch the animal on a woodpile.
The snake was sent to the local forestry bureau, but it is not yet known what will happen to the animal as it is highly venomous.
Cobras are spotted in many southern Chinese provinces, including Zhejiang, Yunnan, Fujian and Guangdong, the report said.
An adult Chinese cobra usually only weighs about 2.7kg and grows to about 1.5 metres.
