Sweet tooth: animals tuck into festive mooncakes at zoo in China

Animals at a zoo in eastern China have also been enjoying the Mid-Autumn Festival after special mooncakes were made for them to enjoy during the holiday, according to a news website report.

The traditional holiday treat was served with ingredients including carrots, grass, fruit and nuts, reported.

The mooncakes were made by families visiting the zoo in Wuxi in Jiangsu province, the article said.

Mooncakes are traditionally given as gifts to family and friends during the festival and are usually made with a sweet red bean or lotus-seed paste filling.
