Mad dog goes on rampage in busy Beijing embassy district
Police hunt animal that reportedly bit dozens on Guanghua Road
Beijing police are hunting for a mad dog after it injured dozens of people in a busy district that is home to foreign embassies, according to mainland media reports.
Witnesses said the dog began biting people on Guanghua Road, Yonganli at about noon on Tuesday, the Beijing Youth Daily said in a post on Weibo.
More than ten people were queuing up for rabies vaccinations at a disease control centre nearby, said Weibo user Wang Jilei in a post on Tuesday afternoon.
Some of the injured said the grey-white, medium-sized dog bit them near the Jianwai SOHO shopping mall, Wang said.
The shopping centre is about 2km from the US embassy staff residence. The embassies of Singapore, Austria and Ireland are also in the same district.
Another witness told the newspaper that the dog had bit more than 30 people.
