Twelve killed in bus, truck crash in northern China after horse ran into road

Truck swerved to avoid animal on highway in Inner Mongolia

A truck collided with a bus in northern China on Saturday night, killing 12 people and injuring 28, state television reported.

The accident happened on a highway in Yakeshi in Inner Mongolia, the report said.

The crash happened after the truck tried to avoid a horse that had strayed on to the road.

All 12 killed were on the bus. Five of the passengers hurt were said to be critically injured.

It is not clear if the drivers of the two vehicles were hurt.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
