Chinese villagers team up to rescue whale stranded on beach
Dozens of villagers rescued a whale stranded on a beach in Leizhou on Sunday, Guangzhou Daily reports.
A call went out for help from all young and strong villagers a resident found a five-metre whale stranded in the afternoon sun.
Rescuers poured water over the whale as others held umbrellas to protect it from dehydration.
Police were called and joined the rescue team. A makeshift cradle was made and the whale was carried and rolled back into the sea after about an hour.
One villager said the whale appeared to look back before swimming away.
