Wild boar crashes into Mercedes-Benz on road in China

Animal ran into car in a road tunnel in Hangzhou, newspaper reports

Reports about a wild boar running into a road and crashing into a Mercedes-Benz in eastern China have attracted huge interest online, according to a newspaper report.

The accident happened in a road tunnel in Hangzhou in Zhejiang province on Tuesday evening, the Qianjiang Evening News reported.

The driver of the car saw the boar on a cycle lane when he was driving through the Linyin tunnel and drove cautiously as he did not want to hit it, according to the report.

“It went in the wrong the direction and hit me,” the driver was quoted as saying. “The boar didn’t move and just stared at me ferociously. I didn’t dare get out of the car. I would be hurt if it came at me.”

The boar was bleeding from its snout after the collision, the driver said.

After a brief stand-off, the motorist drove away.

“I mean it bears full responsibility, but now I have to admit it was my bad luck,” the driver was quoted as saying. “I cannot go to a boar to get compensation.”

The animal has not been spotted since the accident and police were not notified about the incident, according to the report.
