Chinese schoolboy, 11, kills young father-to-be in hit-and-run accident

Boy had taken unlocked car from a local car rental agency

A young father-to-be in eastern China has died after being hit by a stolen car driven by an 11-year-old schoolboy, who then fled the scene.

The victim, 30, was hit in Taicang, Suzhou in Jiangsu province on Monday evening while crossing a street on his way home from work, Taicang Daily reported. The car drove on after the accident, the report said.

The man, whose name was not given, was first thrown into a tree before falling to the ground. He died the following day in hospital.

The man’s wife is expecting their first child in two weeks, the report said, quoting the victim’s father.

It was later discovered that the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle was a primary school pupil with a fondness for cars, the report said, quoting the local police.

The boy had taken an unlocked car from a local car rental agency and was changing lane to pass another car when the accident happened. The report did not say what would happen to him.
