The Chinese pensioner with 96 in her family ... and counting
The family of a centenarian in southwest China has 96 family members ranging across five generations, with their combined ages totalling 3,850 years, according to domestic media.
The family belongs to Liang Xueha, 105, who lives in a village near Meishan in Sichuan province.
The huge number of her offspring come from her three sons and four daughters, the West China City Daily reported.
One reason for Liang’s longevity appears to be she has kept active.
She enjoys watching people play mahjong and square dancing.
Liang was also a regular smoker when she was young and still enjoys the odd puff. She also used to enjoy drinking alcohol, but has given up this habit in recent years.
Liang lives with her youngest son, but most of her children regularly take time to come and stay with her.
Liang’s family will expand to 100 later this year as some of her great-grandchildren are expecting babies, the report said.
