All in 30 seconds: pregnant Chinese woman waddles into garage, gives birth, leaves baby and wanders away

Mother later came forward to claim newborn boy after he was taken to hospital

A heavily pregnant woman wandered into a motor garage in eastern China and gave birth in less than 30 seconds before disappearing and leaving her newborn behind, according to an online report.

The news website of radio station Traffic FM918 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province reported that an employee found the baby boy on the garage floor at about 8am on Saturday.

“When I saw the boy, his lips were already purplish. He was not crying but I got worried after seeing blood on the ground. I knew it was a newborn … but I have never seen a baby this tiny before,” said the employee, Xiao Song.

He and other staff wrapped the baby in a blanket and called an ambulance.

When garage workers reviewed surveillance footage they say a woman in a yellow coat struggling to walk inside the garage.
