Zhejiang – A woman in Zhoushan spent over 10,000 yuan (HK$11,260) to advertise on more than 900 taxis to propose to her boyfriend.

The woman paid the taxi company 10,000 yuan to display her proposal on LED lights atop each of the firm’s taxis in the city, which amounted to more than 900 cars, People’s Daily reported.

The message read, “Zhang Jianfeng, I want to marry you, do you dare to marry me?” The message was displayed from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday last week. The target of her affection accepted the proposal.

It was not the first time taxis have been used to send love messages in Zhoushan. In June, a man declared his feeling for a woman in the city by hiring the taxi company to display a love message on his behalf for 10 days.

Many social media users applauded the woman’s boldness. One Sina Weibo user wrote, “I really do admire girls with such a daring disposition.”

Another Weibo user joked, “This is quite a powerful way to tell Zhang Jianfeng that you have money.”
