Six dead, three injured after van, truck collide on Chinese highway

All casualties were riding in the van, which was crushed

Six men were killed and another three injured after their van collided with a truck on a highway in Shaanxi province.

The accident took place at about 6.30am on Thursday in Xian, The Beijing News reported.

The van was severely crushed but only the front of the truck suffered damage, according to pictures taken at the scene.

The dead and injured were all in the seven-seater van, which was carrying nine people at the time, the report said.

The injured were rushed to hospital. Two of them, aged around 60, suffered serious injuries, the report said.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
