Chinese baby returned to parents who left him by roadside
Police said parents abandoned six-month-old because they were arguing
A six-month-old boy has been reunited with his parents after they abandoned him on the side of a road in southern China because they were quarrelling.
The boy was found by a passer-by on the side of a road in a town in Dongguan, Guangdong province, on Saturday afternoon and his parents were nowhere nearby, Guangzhou Daily reported.
The police were called to the scene and took the baby to hospital, where he underwent a comprehensive medical checkup that showed he was not suffering any serious illness, the report said.
The doctor told the newspaper the boy had some mosquito bites and a rash but he was otherwise healthy.
The boy stayed in the hospital where he was taken care of by nurses.
“He might be frightened as he wasn’t sleeping well,” a nurse said, adding that the boy cried when he was put to bed.
Nurses posted details of the child on China’s primary social media platform WeChat, in a bid to find his parents.
A couple went to the hospital around 11pm on Saturday to retrieve the child, who they said was their son.
The parents left their baby on the roadside because they were having a row, local police said after an investigation. The parents left the hospital with the child in their custody.
