A heatwave that followed torrential downpours is to blame for a traffic light bursting into flames in the eastern Chinese city of Xuzhou.

That’s according to Beijing-based news outlet Pear Video, which posted footage of the incident in coastal Jiangsu province on its website on Tuesday.

The video shows the set of lights on fire at an intersection in Feng county, while the countdown timer and arrow signals next to it continue to function normally.

Traffic continues to move through the intersection apparently unaware of the fire overhead, as pieces of burning metal fall on the road. No one was injured in the incident.

A caption accompanying the video said the fire had been caused by damage from the combination of recent heavy rainfall and high temperatures.
