At least two killed, 55 hurt in China restaurant explosions
Morning blasts in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, believed caused by gas cylinders
At least two people were killed and 55 injured in gas explosions at restaurant in eastern China on Friday morning, according to a news website report.
Police believe the explosions were caused by gas cylinders in the restaurant.
Photographs and videos from the scene show passers-by screaming and fleeing from the area.
Nearby cars, taxis and buses were badly damaged in the blasts.
More than 20 passengers in one bus suffered minor injuries.
“The blasts happened twice. The explosions even shattered windows in shops nearby,” one witness commented online.
Another witness said: “I was in a residential complex at that moment. The buildings within a 300 metre radius of the restaurant seemed to be shaking – like a bomb explosion.”
The cause of the blast is still under investigation, the news website report said.
