Chinese boy forced to jump from tricycle cabs to scam drivers
Parents compel boy, 14, to fake more than 20 accidents and threaten him with a beating when he tries to disobey, newspaper reports
A teenager in eastern China fractured his skull and suffered multiple bruises after being forced by his parents to fake more than 20 accidents by jumping out of motorised tricycle taxis to con their drivers out of cash, a mainland newspaper reports.
The family made 13,000 yuan (US$2,000) in the scam, the Chengdu Business News reported.
The fraud was first revealed on social media by a police officer working in Zhejiang province.
The boy, 14, whose full name was not given, began the scam in August last year after his parents said they could not afford his and his younger sister’s school fees.
The family originally came from Sichuan province but were living in Taizhou in Zhejiang.
The boy’s parents regularly made him jump while taking rides in tricycle taxis when they hit a bumpy stretch of road, according to the report.
