M.A.C launches 'global wanderer' collection
The theme of cosmetics brand M.A.C's new autumn collection is "global wanderer". The collection was launched on Friday at the China Resources Building in Wan Chai - with a demonstration by the brand's regional director of make-up artistry, James Molloy, followed by a "Styleseeker" party in the evening.
Molloy explained the idea behind the new collection: "It's inspired by everybody. It takes inspiration from the woman who travels around the globe and who takes a bit of what she likes from each culture she visits," he said.
The warm, spice-tones palette was reminiscent of Morrocan bazaars or Indian markets, he said.
"It's about mixing textures. So we've got very shiny eyes, shiny cheeks and a pair of matte lips. There are two ways to do the lips this season - we can go for a stained effect by dabbing the lipstick with the fingertips, or you can apply layers of lipstick to get more density," Molloy said.
Guests at the party - many in outfits with an ethnic touch to echo the theme - roamed around the venue testing the new products.
Singer-actress Fiona Sit Hoi-kei and model-actress Chrissie Chau Sau-na were invited on to the stage to share their travel experiences and dance with a group of African performers. Sit also got a surprise gift because it was her birthday the following day.
Other guests included Jade Kwan Sum-yin, Janet Ma Sze-wai, Vanessa Yeung Tsang, Jocelyn Luko, Carrie Lam Lei, Irene Wang Yuen-yuen, Candice Yu On-on and Kam Kwok-leung.
