Joey Yung puts troubles aside to promote album, movie

Singer-actress Joey Yung Cho-yee has not been all that at peace recently. First came rumours that she has broken her close friend Denise Ho Wan-sze's heart by falling in love with Ho's ex-boyfriend Wilfred Lau Ho-lung.

Then a few days back her 12-year-old cat, which Yung treated as a family member, passed away.

But with her busy schedule promoting her Mando-pop album and her latest movie , she has had to pick herself up quickly. Last Wednesday, she attended the movie's gala premiere organised by the Summer International Film Festival 2012 at The Grand Cinema in the Elements mall.

The movie, directed by Heiward Mak Hei-yan and produced by Chapman To Man-chat, revolves around the dark side of showbiz and the sacrifices a pop star - played by Yung - has to make in order to become a diva. Although the character bears many similarities to her life, Yung said the movie was not based on her.

To, who plays Yung's evil manager in the movie, joked that his performance was made possible because his own manager was a living example.
