Sand and bands at Silvermine Bay Music Festival

Any rainfall in the aftermath of Typhoon Kai-Tak did little to dampen the mood of music lovers looking to enjoy some live beats on the beach.

The Silvermine Bay Music Festival, a three-day event that started on Friday, attracted a fair number of eager headbangers to Lantau over the weekend.

Organised by a group of Mui Wo music lovers with the aim of sharing their passion and drawing more people to the outlying island, the small-scale festival has been attracting an increasing number of visitors and performers since it began in 2006.

This year, local performers included rockers Tai Chi, Paul Wong Koon-chung, Endy Chow Kwok-yin, Supper Moment, Kolor and ToNick. Canto-pop duo Sugar Club and rappers 24Herbs also took the stage, while GoGoRise and Manhand flew in all the way from Taiwan and Malaysia, respectively.
